The Gift Shop

Buying gifts for food lovers is one of our favourite past-times here at Provender Brown – as you will see from our fantastic selection on offer. It all started with a Christmas hamper range back in 2005 and since then we have brought in food and drink gifts at all price points to suit everyone from sweet-toothed chocoholic friends to your cheese-loving old Dad.

Sometimes you just want a little gift to say thank you, or to let a friend know you’re thinking of them. If this is what you’re after then do have a look at Tracklements pate jars – usable for years to come once the pate is over; our stunning range of Scottish gins in so many beautiful bottles; or a simple sweet treat of decadent Charbonnel et Walker Truffles.

We have extended our range of all-year-round hampers to offer that same effortless gift buying experience that our customers love so much at Christmas. A hamper is a terrific present for birthdays, anniversaries, corporate client gifts and graduations.

We have a really fantastic choice of ready-made hampers priced from £25 to £290. Our all-year round range offers the perfect solution for birthday presents, house-warming gifts and special anniversary gifts, while our Christmas hamper range boasts the very best of seasonal food and drink offerings.

Frequently Asked Questions When Buying Foodie Gifts & Hampers

Can you build your own hamper?

If you’d like to make your own hamper, simply select your preferred hamper packaging and add your choice of goodies to the basket. We’ll then make it up and send it directly to the lucky recipient – you can even add a gift card with a message!

Tips for building a gift hamper:

Really, it’s all about personal choice.  The chances are you are choosing to build your own hamper because you know the sort of things you want to send, otherwise you would be going for the easy ready-made option, but here are a few points to consider.

Think about whether you want to make the hamper all sweet, all savoury or a mixture.  There’s no right or wrong; it’s all about what you think the recipient will enjoy.

Consider balance – try not to pick one very large or bulky item that’s going to dominate, unless that is the key focus of the hamper.  For example, a bottle of wine or champagne looks good with a couple of smaller complimentary items; a bulky pack of pasta and a few small items, not so much.

With so many goodies on offer, it can be difficult to choose.  It might help to give yourself a theme such Scottish, French, Gluten Free, Organic.  You can use the filters within each sub-department or the search bar to help narrow it down.

Avoid very fragile items such as bruschetta or crumbly oatcakes (Adamson’s are particularly bad!) or tubs of oily things from the deli counter that might leak.

If the hamper is being sent abroad or to a remote location, you won’t be able to include fresh perishable goods.

Don’t overfill the box.  A hamper will always feel more luxurious and exciting if you have to dig around and peel back the layers to find what’s in it.  Bear in mind also that if its being sent out we need sufficient room between bottles and jars to allow for protective packaging.  If chilled items are included we will also need room for ice packs.  If in doubt, it’s always better to go up a size.

How do I know how much to add to a gift hamper so it arrives well presented?

How many items per box is tricky, it depends on the size of the items but as general guidance for building hampers here on our website I'd follow the tips below.  You can click here to view our Eco Hamper Boxes, Black Branded Boxes and Wicker Hamper Baskets.

I have a friend I’d like to buy for and I’m looking for a foodie gift at around £20 – what can I choose?

We have lots! There's everything from decadent chocolates to carefully selected wines. Click over to our Gift Section to see the full range.

If you'd like a mini hamper with a few little treats than do look at the Robin Red Breast Christmas Hamper or the Mistletoe Jute Bag.

Can you send my hamper straight to my friend?

Yes! We can send to mainland UK for a standard charge of £6.99. If you’d like to send internationally we can offer you a price on request. We careful package everything for transportation – we are experts at this now – and we’ve had lots of lovely feedback on our presentation and eco-credentials.

Will my hamper arrive in time for Christmas?

As long as the courier doesn’t hold things up, the answer is yes! We send all hampers out the week before Christmas – earlier if you like – and all produce has plenty of shelf-life allowing it to be enjoyed well into the New Year.

Can I send fresh items in the post?

We have a huge selection of fresh deli items that are perfectly happy going through the post. We work with specialist couriers, pack for freshness and in the vast majority of cases you will receive your parcel 24 hours after leaving us.

Many of our cheeses have a ten day shelf life and our prepacked smoked fish and meats travel well and last for weeks.

We don’t offer items such as hams and charcuterie and other fresh meats in our delivery service as some have only 2 or 3 days from slicing. You can still order these for click and collect though, if you know you’re going to see your recipient that day or the next. We’ve marked these items as unsuitable for delivery to help you with your selection.

How long will my hamper or food gift take to arrive?

Mainland UK is usually 24 hours if you order before 2pm and 48 hours if you order after 2pm but can take a little longer at Christmas.
Some areas such as Highland Scotland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight may take longer.
International delivery will be confirmed on booking.
