Nestled in the hills above the Carse of Gowrie in East Perthshire, the Abernyte Brewery came about after a conversation over a stock fence about what good beer should be.
The brewers Donnie and Ian source the finest range of malts and hops and use modern German brewing methods to produce a range of continental style beers and ales with a twist. The water is drawn from a spring at the foot of the King’s Seat, the tallest hill in the Sidlaws.
No filtration or fining is used, just the application of cold tank maturation, leaving the flavour of the beer intact.
A proper IPA; with soft and discrete malt structure overlain with wonderful peach and grapefruit aromas. Weve kept the bitterness a bit lower down the IBU scale as this seems to be the fashion just now. Citra hops from the USA and Rakau hops from NZ. Really well balanced.
