J&B Rare is a Scotch Whisky that bears the names of a love-struck Italian and a canny Englishman. It is a rare blend that was created by a true whisky genius and made world famous by maverick men and women, never held back by the conventions of their day. This is a whisky whose blends and behaviours have transformed tastes, earning loyal clientele from the Princes of England to the Kings of Swing. Created at a time when Scotch whisky was notoriously rough, J&B Rare was an act of blending mastery, bringing together the big bold flavours of single malts with lighter grain whiskies to give a fresh and vibrant finish to the blend. The pedigree bottling of J&B Rare still retains its signature blend of prestigious single malt and grain whiskies from across Speyside, featuring ‘heart malts’ from Knockando, Auchroisk, Strathmill and Glen Spey. Otherwise known as the ‘wine merchants’ whisky’, Justerini & Brooks created J&B Rare in the early 1930s. The whisky rose to prominence from its public association with the Hollywood Rat Pack of the 1950s and ‘60s. Taste Profile - J&B Rare is crafted from forty-two different malt and grain whiskies to create a liquid that naturally pale in colour and subtle yet complex in flavour. Matured in oak casks for a minimum of three years, the finer ‘heart malts’ are aged for longer to add fullness and depth of flavour, creating the unique taste of J&B Rare. Nose: Fruity, grassy and aromatic on the nose ¬with notes of soft apple and pear. These are perfectly balanced on both the nose and the palette by American oak and just a hint of smoke. Palate: Layers of rich vanilla, well balanced with a smooth finish. Lively and light, New Grain creates a subtle canvas for the blend. New Malt adds body and aromatic notes of spice and fresh fruit.
