Martin Codax Lias Albariño 2013, Riax Baixas, Spain, 75cl

Martín Códax is the largest producer in Galicia with 450 hectares of vineyard planted with Albariño, which represents 13% of the total Rías Baixas DO. The co-operative was founded in 1986 by a group of winemakers led by ninth generation winemaker Luciano Amoedo and currently comprises 2,400 tiny vineyard parcels individually managed by 550 families. Martín Códax was instrumental in the creation of the Rías Baixas DO in 1988 (in fact the statutes were signed at the winery) and are estate-grown Albariño specialists, conducting ongoing research into the variety.

An intense straw-coloured wine. The nose is intense and aromatic with floral notes together with quince, bakery and bread hints. On the palate the wine has great volume and a long finish with persistent fruit flavours.

Grape Variety: 100% Albariño
